Rhoda is a hardworking mother of two who treasures her family. She began her journey in the army reserves before college. This painting represents her family, her father (who passed away when she was 14), her career and some touching stories that happened during her time in the military.
Meet the Veteran
Rhoda Green is currently working in the Army Reserves. Green adores her family very much and treasures her time with them. Green is especially proud of some of the achievements and awards she has earned for being a leader and hardworking officer. Green has always had a passion and desire to be some sort of doctor. She is proud to be able to help people on a daily basis. She was always sure that she wanted to be in the army, but Green especially loves the Reserves because she still gets to spend quality family time with her husband and children.
Student-created art exhibit highlighting veteran stories
Seventh grade students at Carleton W. Washburne Middle School in Winnetka turned oral histories into works of art. Forty-five students worked in groups of 4 to research and interview 11 veterans, most of whom are Cantigny Park staff members or volunteers. The art in this exhibit is inspired by these interviews.
First Division Museum Program and Exhibit staff worked with students to turn their projects into a museum exhibit with a theme, labels, title, and a gallery guide. It is currently online until we can welcome visitors back to the First Division Museum to see it in person.
