Join us for a program about the 1st Infantry Division’s role in Operation Husky, the 1943 Allied Invasion of Sicily during World War II. Steve Fixler will explain how the Big Red One prepared for this critical mission, including its seaborne landing, combat operations and movement through Sicily, helping drive Axis air, land and naval forces from the island. Operation Husky was the largest amphibious invasion of the war to that point and served as the template for the landings at Normandy one year later.
