World War Records, First Division AEF Regular

Commemorating the First Division’s battles that took place a hundred years ago, the Colonel Robert R. McCormick Research Center has engaged Northern Micrographics of La Crosse WI to digitize and place online our fifth collection. This collection consists of First Division WW1 battle records scanned from 29 volumes of the World War Records, First Division AEF Regular.

Eric Gillespie, Director of the Robert R. McCormick Research Center stands next to WWI Records books.

These documents include divisional Field Orders, Summaries of Intelligence, Operations Orders, Field Messages, Journal of Operations, War Diaries, Station Lists, Training, and Citations with alphabetized index. Also included are translated French and German documents which mention the First Division’s WWI combat.

These online battle records are keyword searchable. Military historians can now access all the division’s WWI battle documents. Genealogists and family members can also search the Citations to see if relatives who served in the First Division received awards for their combat actions.

All 29 volumes of the World War Records, First Division AEF Regular are now available online in time for the Armistice Centennial on 11-11-18.
