Duty First

Continue your military history journey in the “Duty First” gallery, which is thematic and explores the 1st Infantry Division’s history from the 1970s to today. The thematic sections are based upon the modern U.S. Army’s five basic missions: Military Assistance, Counterinsurgency, Battle, Peacekeeping, and Deterrence. An array of artifacts and digital interactives illustrates the recent history of the Big Red One. Visitors can navigate a digital globe to follow the 1 ID all around the world on their current and past operations or watch virtual interviews (Soldiers Stories) with Big Red One veterans on four large-screen monitors to learn about their service.
