Veterans Day is a holiday in the United States that honors the service of veterans.

On this day, we find ways to thank those who have served in the armed forces. Veterans Day is always on November 11th. This date marks the anniversary of the day World War I ended.

Make a “Thank You” flag and benefit the National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial.

Veterans Day Extended Hours

Thursday, November 11
4:30-8pm

The First Division Museum will have extended hours on the evening of Veterans Day. The “First In War” gallery’s daily sounds and films will be silenced from 4:30 to 8 pm for a visual display of flickering candles throughout the gallery to, “keep the home fires burning” for the veterans in our lives.

Veterans Day Moment of Thanks

Thursday, November 11
5:30-6pm

Veterans and their families are welcome to join us for a special after-hours moment of thanks, featuring remarks from the Executive Director of Museums at Cantigny Park, Colonel (Ret) Krewasky A. Salter, Ph.D. Guests will also be able to view a quilt ceremony from the Illinois Chapter of Quilts of Valor.
